Abstract (EN)
Design: Longitudinal nationwide registry. Objective: Identify predictors of 12-month outcome after primary ACDF for degenerative cervical spine disease (DCSD). Methods: 5517 FinSpine patients (2016-2024) grouped as “improved” vs “indifferent/worse”. Classification-tree plus logistic regression identified predictors. Results: 76.8 % improved. Better outcome associated with pain ≤ 1 yr (OR 1.95), pre-op NDI ≤ 42 (OR 1.37), and non-smoking (OR 1.37). Diagnosis of herniated disc or nerve-root stenosis outperformed myelopathy/central stenosis. Conclusion: Short pain duration, lower disability, and non-smoking strongly predict ACDF success and should guide counselling.
